Lucky the cow

This is Lucky! She was born yesterday afternoon. Her mama left her in a snowbank and Cody and John brought her into the house, gave her a bath, rubbed her down, fed her colostrum and we prayed. John was up with her all night. This morning she was mooing and standing. Nice and warm and full of life!

I never knew that I would feel this kind of wonder when I became a farmer's wife. That a newborn heifer left in the snow could survive. John is so good with our herd and I love to see his compassion!

By the way, we kept her in the basement in our old bathroom and then we moved her to the mudroom!
