Beauty in the unexpected

AJ and I went to the field so he could ride with Cody and chop stalks. I took a picture of the corn not even realizing how beautiful the clouds were. I was focusing on the ground and GOD revealed a beautiful sky. How many times do we stare down when we should be looking UP?

That's your encouragement for today. Look up. Raise your hands to the One who adores you. The One who will reveal hidden beauty to you.

Happy Sunday.

The truth about being a farmer's wife

True story.

Sometimes you plant a garden and he accidentally kills it
with 2-4D because he "didn't think it would drift."

And then you see him like this and it doesn't matter at all that
you can't get a new (insert whatever here) because he has to get a new skid loader.

That's the truth about being a farm wife. There are days when you have to go it alone. There are times when you just find time to take a hot bubble bath and the phone rings. "It's time to switch fields and we need a ride." There are times when cattle die and crops fail and tornadoes rip out the grain leg (see my very first post). Every day is in God's hands when you farm. Rain. Not enough. Too much. Grain prices. Media scares about mad cow disease. Beef is good for you. Beef will kill you. No Farm Bill. Waiting to hear the tractor pull into the yard after a long night of harvest.

And it's all worth it, this life we choose to live. We fight for it. Some even die for it. And we farm wives, we stand behind our farmers. We pray for their safety. We pray they get enough rest. We pray that they will make sound financial decisions. We pray.

And sometimes, we really do scream, "Help me, Jesus!" and we make it through another day, because the Farmer says, "We'll get through it."

Thirty One, Aldi's and Harvest

What a beautiful day! The guys started harvesting this week. Slow but sure. Yields are great so far and that is encouraging. The only downfall is Aiden's breathing problems. The dust in the air irritates his lungs so he is back on breathing treatments and meds. I let him go out in the morning to play and get some fresh air before all of the dust starts flying.
Poor Guy, he wants to ride in the combine so bad but can't because of the dust.

Went to Aldi's in CF yesterday. They redid the whole store and it is amazing! Lots to choose from and all updated. It was a fun trip with Aiden. I got a lot for a little. And that feels good, to be able to feed my family and stick to a budget.
Here's my receipt. And a little fall d├ęcor.

Last but not least, I am trying a new venture, selling Thirty One bags. You can visit my website at www.mythirtyone.com/carolynwhite

I believe in the life of the Proverbs 31 woman. She looks well to the ways of her home! If you need organizing tips and ideas on how to use these great products let me know. I will be happy to show you how
I have transformed my home using Thirty One!

I have no idea why this switched fonts on me...have a blessed day my friend!

Happy Fall, Ya'all

Here it is October already. We haven't even begun to harvest our crop and it feels weird that nothing is happening here on the farm! But we wait patiently for equipment to be fixed and fine tuned, and we wait for the corn to get just a little drier.

The Farmer has taken an off farm job. And Cody has moved to CF.(Don't worry we are still farming! Cody comes everyday to do chores and work.) So, most days I am living like a pioneer woman and hanging out in my kitchen and playing with AJ and working on basic schooling with him. And I am oh so content!

I have made apple butter in the crockpot and even baked my first homemade apple pie! I put up some tomato juice in different flavors to cook with this winter. I can add paste or tomatoes to it and make chili, spaghetti or pizza. I also made salsa! This former hood rat really has been transformed to Farm Queen! (fyi "hood rat" is a term we used for kids who ran around in the neighborhood causing trouble and dressing like a gangster haha)

I need to start using my camera again and not just my phone to take pictures. Maybe today will be the day AJ and I go outside and capture fall for ya'all.

Be blessed.
