Where is Spring?

Anna and Jaiden doing headstands last night - we had a pizza party with Danielle and Theo tenHoeve and family. We made lots of homemade pizza and ate lots!
Jaima in her Easter dress- we may have to add a sweater if the weather doesn't start acting like Spring! Snow is falling right now.

Must be Spring...

because it's Horse Sale week in Waverly and the rain is coming! Every year it is the same! I hope to see green grass soon!
My princesses!

Cheese!

Watching Teletubbies! She only likes the Dancing video - and watches it over and over. She knows how to start the video and replay it when it is finished. Jaiden has also figured out how to ask for what she wants - either by pointing - asking and using a few words - or by reaching for my hand and leading me to what she wants!
The kids had the day off from school today. Cody stayed up all night playing video games. He practiced guitar with his friend Nate today. They will be performing in the school talent show. Cody is also learning songs to play with the praise band at church. The girls and I went to my friend Sue's for a two hour coffee visit this morning - Sue baked chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies. We had a lot of fun - and Sue knew I needed girl time!
Also had women's Bible study here at the farm this afternoon - we studied cursing and complaining - we added another member to our group and had a lot of fun and fellowship!
Kiki D is here tonight - we made homemade pizza - I love teaching her how to cook! Now, I am thinking it is pajama movie time - my girls better let me sleep in tomorrow!

Busy week...

This week has flown by...Jaiden and I hauled manure with John one day. The bumpiest tractor ride I have ever been on. We had youth group, Emma's birthday, house cleaning, haircuts - wait til you see Jaima's new do! Cody and Cael cleaned the garage today. What else? Cody is babysitting Cael and Emma tonight. Jaima wanted to go, too but Cody said, "No way!"
John and Cody helped at church Tuesday, and John and I helped Thursday evening - we are building new classrooms and a nursery in the recently purchased bldg. next to the church. We had a good time!

The weather was beautiful today - although we could have used another day of freezing temps to get the manure hauled. I am sure it will freeze again - when I don't want it to! Cody and John moved cows around today and sorted out the ones that are close to calving.

That's all I know - thanks for all of the prayers - they are much appreciated - our God is an awesome God!

Corrie Ten Boom once asked,
"Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?"
My prayer, for you, is that it is your steering wheel.

So, Spring is NOT here

Got out of church yesterday to SNOW! Lots of it - I had John's truck - 4WD - and still took the back way home because traffic on the highway was hardly moving because it was so slippery. It still has not melted - our farmyard is a muddy, snowy mess.

John and Cody are outside right now dealing with a water main break. So, no big chores for me inside right now. We will have tacos and chimichangas when the guys get inside. Nice and spicy to warm them up!

I cleaned Jaima's room today and got rid of a lot of stuff. I have a lot of clothes to pass on down to Emma - then Jenni will give me Emma's clothes for Jaiden - it works out great. I am pleased to say I have only been to Walmart twice this year! I haven't been to Trinkets and Togs - only to Fareway, Meyer Pharmacy and the Dollar Store. I may figure out living less yet!

Jaiden tried to walk DOWN some steps yesterday at church. She was so brave - a little daredevil. She sure can run fast now - I spend a lot of time chasing and saying "no!". Her newest thing is begging for ice. SHe gets a cup from her drawer. Finds whoever will pay attention to her. Says, "ICE!" over and over until that someone will get her a little bit of crushed ice in her cup. She then sits on the floor and proceeds to daintily crunch her ice.

Chores with John

So, today I went outside and spent some time in the barn with John. Milked some new bull calves - well, I call it milking them - bottle fed them! There is a little heifer calf out there who probably weighs 40lbs - she is so cute and tiny - I named her Crystal. I trudged through the manure and mud and had a great time! Spring is here!

Happy Birthday, Jaima LuLu!

Our "baby" girl is 7 today! She has had a rough two weeks being sick - has missed 6 days of school!
Jaima's name means "i am loved" - and she certainly is! Her daddy and I are so proud of her - she has worked so hard on her reading and spelling. She has also learned to be a great big sister!

Still sick!

Jaima Lulu is home sick again today! She has a low grade fever and a cough - but is better than she was yesterday!
So, I made some biscuits for breakfast and we are coloring in our color books! John had physical therapy for his knee today - and then is working for a few hours at the landfill.
The roof is on the new cattle building! I haven't gone out yet because I have been taking care of Jaima - but I will go out and take pictures soon. I can't see the tenHoeve farm anymore though, and I don't like that - I always liked looking out my kitchen window and seeing their buildings - I guess I will have to take a picture and tape it to the window!
Jaiden is "talking" to me right now - she still doesn't say "mama" - if I ask her to say it she says, "Dada" - John thinks it's so funny. She knows how to point her finger at us and shake her head "no" - we can't help but laugh.
Since Julie and Danielle wrote about our church, I will a little, too. We have been going to the Vineyard in Waverly since last June. The kids and I went first and really fell in love with the church community there. Cody is especially fond of Pastor Bill. We enjoy his teachings and having "real" sermons again - preached from the Word. Jaima loves Sunday School. John and I attended a movie, "Fireproof", for Valentines Day. I lead a Bible study here at the farm every other Friday. Even though I am still leading Youth Group at Trinity and teaching HS Sunday School, we have begun to feel like the Vineyard is home. This Spring, we have decided to join, and will probably give up our teaching and mentoring at Trinity. That way, our kids will not be confused, and we can focus on activities and worship in one place.
Calving season has begun. This is my favorite time of year. I love watching new calves being born! Some of the best times of my marriage have been spent in the barn with John, the two of us helping a mama have her baby and catching that new life in my arms - it's exhilirating and it takes my breath away!
